Solution
LandTech utilized 3D laser scanning to document existing quarry conditions and generate precise, repeatable volume measurements. Using terrestrial laser scanning, the team captured detailed point-cloud data of quarry faces and stockpiles, collecting up to one million data points per second to accurately model complex, non-flat terrain.
Scan data was tied into established coordinate systems using GPS-integrated control points, ensuring consistency and accuracy across surveys. Individual scans were combined into a single three-dimensional surface model, allowing LandTech to calculate material volumes with a high degree of precision. The site was rescanned at defined intervals to track ongoing material removal over time.
