LandTech spent two days at the New England Water Works Association (NEWWA) Spring Conference in Worcester, connecting with utility professionals and hearing firsthand what teams are working through today.
In conversations with utility leaders and engineers, one theme came up often: many organizations are still trying to connect the data they have to the decisions they need to make.
It’s not a new problem—but it’s one that continues to impact day-to-day operations.
Information is often outdated or incomplete. In other cases, data lives in different systems that don’t work well together, and many teams don’t have a clear view of their existing infrastructure. These challenges can make it harder to plan projects, maintain assets, and make confident long-term decisions.
At the same time, there is growing interest in solutions that bring this information together. Combining GIS, 3D reality capture, and digital twins helps create a clearer, more useful view of assets and facilities.
As Andrea Tavares, Director of Reality Capture, noted:
“Many of the teams we spoke with are working with incomplete or outdated documentation of their facilities. When accurate existing conditions are captured in 3D and connected to GIS, it changes how decisions are made, especially for maintenance, upgrades, and planning.”
LandTech supports utilities with existing conditions capture, 3D modeling, asset documentation, and construction progress monitoring. The goal is to provide accurate information in a format teams can easily use.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by Booth 521—we appreciated the conversations and look forward to continuing them.
