Challenge
Surveying approximately 4.5 miles of active rail leading into and out of T.F. Green Airport Station required detailed documentation of track geometry, overhead catenary systems, and adjacent infrastructure. The scope also included complex interior and structural surveying of the station parking garage, the interlink connecting the garage to the station, and the garage façade.
All work needed to be completed while the rail system remained fully energized and operational. The T.F. Green Airport Station extends the MBTA Commuter Rail Providence/Stoughton Line from Boston and serves daily commuters traveling between Providence and Boston, as well as airport passengers and employees. Traditional surveying methods would have required track outages or close-proximity measurements, creating safety and operational challenges.
